I'm assuming it would be a control, in which case you would probably do ipc.control(72492, value). But in this case you could just skip LUA and assign it as a 'custom control' in the normal joystick/keyboard mappings in FSUIPC as well.

If you really want to stop a game taking predefined inputs from a joystick that you can't just remove the mapping for in the game you actually need something that intercepts the input before it reaches the game. The only thing I can think of that might get you there is. I don't even know if it has support for peripherals, all I know is it can take the input from a key on the keyboard and make the game think it's something else/a combination of keys instead. It uses a basic scripting language that is a little fiddly but doesn't require programming knowledge. Also, see this. So I looked into Pinnacle Game Profiler, since that seems to be popular, and it specifically has a function to do this - block a game with native joystick support from reading a button.
Key pad lights go auto off, simple wake them with a pres of the FN+S key. - I love this game pad. If you buy this you HAVE to give it a couple of weeks to get used to. It takes about 2 weeks or so to get used to the change in gaming. But once you get used to it, you will never want to game without it again. I just bought my first gaming pc and transitioning to the life of a keyboard and mouse has been anything but easy. Everything about me playing multiplayer steam games is totally against my favor. But when I used this keypad. The shift key is where the caps lock usually is, and manuevering my pinky around caps lock on a regular keyboard is an odd feeling that I am just not used to yet. The keypad routes you around some of these odd finger positions and gives you much better control over your player. Ergonimically this keypad just makes sense and feels great. Much better than a keyboard, but this is coming from a total beginner when it comes to pc gaming.
And the procedure described by works very well for many of the knobs and switches, i.e. Sending the FS Control ROTOR_BRAKE ( 66587) with a parameter that indicates the switch/knob to switch. However, unfortunately this does not work for a large number of buttons. The flat buttons seem to work differently somehow, and I cannot figure out how. Take for example the GEN1 button on the OHP.
